My siblings and I were referred to FSC by a consultant and having worked with elder attorneys in the past, we were only mildly hopeful that they could help. However, our immediate reaction after our first conversation with FSC was a collective sigh of relief—we knew we had found people that understood the long-term care space and could guide us responsibly. We worked with them for almost a year prior to the pandemic, but once that hit, our lives changed a lot. We had to move our elderly parents, who lived alone for the first six months of COVID, to an assisted living facility just to ensure their daily needs were being met. Our mother was an Alzheimer’s patient before the pandemic, and her disease advanced rapidly during isolation. Her condition deteriorated consistently during her first few months in assisted living and she was eventually hospitalized. She passed away in February.
Our FSC partner, Jeanne, was a lifesaver through all of this. Calm, sweet and caring, she took charge of all the administration behind getting my mother’s long term care plan to reimburse us as her situation changed. I didn’t have one moment of frustration or doubt about anything; Jeanne told me what was covered, what the process looked like, what the timeline was and diligently continued to bring me answers. In some instances, she told me the questions, because in this situation I didn’t know what I didn’t know. I have the highest level of trust in Jeanne-not only does she know how to navigate the long term care system, but importantly, she knows what families go through when it needs to be navigated. She was kind and patient always-and I felt as though she somehow had a picture of my parents in her head and always kept them in the forefront. I can tell that her job is not just a job—she knows she’s helping elders get what they need when they need it, and she knows she’s helping families cope at a terrible time in their lives. She delivers her unique brand of customer care with grace and joy every single day.
I wish my mother could have known Jeanne—she would have admired her intelligence, her capability and commitment, and her empathy. l’m sure now that she is an angel, she can see and appreciate how smart we were to partner with FSC. I can’t imagine doing this without them.
